World Kindness Day [13 Nov 2021]

Our blog this time is a little different from usual, not so much related to gold or jewellery, but something that we believe in that should be applied to everyday lives. Kindness is defined as “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate”. Not everyone knows this, but there is a dedicated day, which falls on 13th November every year, where World Kindness Day is celebrated.

World Kindness Day was first introduced in 1998 by The World Kindness Movement, an organisation formed at a 1997 Tokyo conference of like-minded kindness organisations from around the world. World Kindness Day is observed in various countries, such as the United States, Japan, and Australia.

The purpose of World Kindness Day is to highlight and encourage acts of kindness in your community. It also serves as a reminder to all that acts of kindness, no matter how simple or little, has power and that together, we can all work to create a kinder world.

Little actions to show kindness

Prepare breakfast for your family.

Greet your neighbours and bus drivers when you pass by them.

Be polite to sales and customer service executives.

Thank the waitresses and cleaners when you are dining out.

Get a surprise gift for someone.

Reach out to a relative or friend that you haven’t caught up with in ages.

Hold the door for somebody.

Offer to help someone to do something without being asked.

Forgive someone who has made a mistake.

Donate to others who might need some help.

Volunteer at a charity organisation.

Treat a friend or even stranger to a meal.

World Kindness Day is a holiday that promotes the importance of being kind, helping others, being appreciative and grateful to people around you. But while being kind to people around us, also never forget to be kind to yourself too!
