Our 2020 Story

2020 has passed by in a flash, with it being one of the most memorable and not the best year for many people.

First, there was the Australia’s bushfires that burnt more than 18 million hectares, destroying and killing animals, people and their homes. There was also worldwide racial tensions over #blacklivesmatter as well as other unfortunate, sudden passing including Kobe Bryant (American professional basketball player) and Alien Huang (Taiwanese singer-actor-host). The biggest news of all would be Covid-19, the worst pandemic in recent history that has resulted in more than 83 million cases and 1.8 million deaths (as of 31st December 2020).

Locally, many of us have experienced our first “lock-down” or known as Circuit-breaker. Our cases continued to see a soar in numbers after clusters of migrant workers living in dormitories were tested positive one after another. Businesses were impacted, jobs were lost, people were afraid. In the midst of all these, we didn’t give up hope. Together, we stand united. After the Circuit-breaker, there were stringent rules but many people adhered to them, keeping safe distancing, wearing masks and more. 

Businesses like ours had it no easier. With months of closure and a sharp drop in sales, we had to think of ways to survive. From training and upskilling our staffs to going out of our conventional selling methods, we did our best in every way we could so as to bring the best to our customers.

Also, as most of our loyal supporters would have known, we started having more online presence. From having our own website store as well as Lazada and Shopee stores, we also started doing our own livestreams on Facebook and other platforms. Despite the tough times, we are glad for the staff and customers who continued to support Arthesdam Jewellery.

With 2020 coming to an end in a few hours, we are glad of how this tough year has given us opportunities to step out of our comfort zone and reminded us to always stay adaptable.

In the coming new year 2021, Arthesdam Jewellery may not be able to guarantee a better year ahead for everybody, but we are here to promise you that we will always be with you, providing you with our best service and quality gold jewellery for every occasion (because every little occasion is worth celebrating). With this, we will end our 2020 story and we hope that 2021 will be a better year for everybody. Happy New Year!
