Choosing Your Necklace Chain Length
One common question that people have when buying jewellery, particularly bracelets and necklace chains, is what size should I get? Unlike bracelets, necklace chains are more flexible in that you would most likely be able to fit the chain around your neck. However, it may not be the easiest to find a perfect fit that you love. Whether the chain is hanging above or below your collarbone, or even longer reaching to the chest area.
There have been many instances whereby people are buying the chain as a gift and asks us for help on choosing the length. Unfortunately, we are not able to give a straightforward answer. This blog today will explain why and give you some guidance on how to select your chain length.
The most popular lengths that people typically look for and can fit are between 40-50cm. However, it needs to be emphasized that where the chain sits on the neck exactly would depend on each individual, based on the frame and neck size in general. 
40cm chains are usually the shortest and worn as a choker close to the neck. It also suits people who have a smaller frame and are more petite.
Standard length necklaces are around 44-48cm and are the most commonly worn length. This length will suit most people and occasions. If you're looking for a necklace to wear daily, or if you’re buying for someone who you have zero clues of their size, then this range is likely to be your go-to length.
In general, chains that are slightly longer (50cm and more) are great for people who are taller or have larger frames.
Now imagine you are buying a necklace for someone who is of larger build and wider neck. A typical “standard length” chain might end up looking more like a choker. On the other hand, a petite and small framed person wearing the standard length might find it too long for their liking.
The best way to get the best fit would be to measure an existing chain that fits well, or using string (that fits well on your neck) against a measuring tape.
