It's not too late to start planning for the big day! In fact, we're just about to start looking forward to the upcoming celebrations. This year, we're celebrating the Year of the Rabbit and there's no better way to usher in the new year than with your friends and family. 

To help you get started, here are some of our favourite places to celebrate Chinese New Year with friends and family in Singapore: 

  1. Chingay Parade

Chingay Parade 2023 is coming to the F1 Pit Building on 3 & 4 February 2023! 

 

After 2 years of virtual parade, Chingay Parade 2023 comes back with a live edition at the F1 Pit Building on 3 & 4 February 2023. It is one of the biggest events in Singapore featuring thousands of performers and plenty of enormous parade floats. In celebration of the Chinese New Year. Indulge in the colourful and vibrant Chingay Parade brought to you by the diverse talents and multi-ethnic community, performed in front of a street-style container art backdrop that is co-created by youths.

  1. Light to Night 2023

 

Light to Night isn’t related to CNY per se, but it’s a fun one to check out during Chinese New Year 2023 in Singapore! Light to Night 2023 is an exciting event that will transform the city into a vibrant art playground. 

 The festival features a diverse line-up of immersive art experiences, from day-to-night music and dance performances to immersive theatre performances and installations, it's all about exploring the theme "Here and Now" through art. The theme is inspired by the artistic process of responding to one's time and space through art and is centred on the concept of play and innovation.

  1. Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2023

 

Hop into the Year of the Rabbit with ‘Bunny-ful Blessings’ at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall. Featuring two rabbits measuring 2.5 meters in height, this art installation is perfect for an Insta-worthy photo op to usher in the Lunar New Year and all of its blessings! As part of the Wang Qing Festival of Spring 2023, you can also enjoy an exciting line-up of family-friendly CNY activities such as a children’s lion dance workshopfestive drumming workshops, a tangyuan workshoptemple tours and heritage trails, free storytelling and craft activities for the little ones, and more!

  1. Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Chinese New Year

 

The Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Roof Garden came alive with a spectacular rabbit-themed art installation exhibition to welcome the Year of the Rabbit. Entitled "Together", this mixed-media artwork presents a cast of characters from Chinese New Year mythology. These characters will showcase local Chinese New Year practices enjoyed together with family and friends.

  1. Dahlia Dreams at Gardens by the Bay

Every year Gardens by the Bay pulls out all the stops with its CNY showcase in the Flower Dome. This time? Rabbit-themed! Catch bunnies scampering in a lush landscape filled with dahlias, a magnificent magnolia tree and spring blossoms. The Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay will be lit up in 100 rabbits for the Chinese New Year, starting this weekend.

  1. Hop into Fun this Lunar New Year @ USS

Get ready to hop into the Year of the Rabbit with your favourite characters at Universal Studios Singapore! From festive meet & greets with DreamWorks Animations’ characters like Po, Shrek, Elmo and more to a special yusheng experience with Sesame Street friends, this is a CNY event that you won’t want to miss! Minion fans are also in for a treat as Kevin will be making a special appearance in a bunny outfit for some selfies! 

And if you plan to visit from 22 to 30 January 2023? You'll receive a lucky red packet containing exciting goodies like Universal Express passes, food or retail vouchers, plushies and more! All of these exciting Chinese New Year festivities are included with regular admission to Universal Studios Singapore.

  1. River Hong Bao

 

River Hongbao 2023 is back at Gardens by the Bay to celebrate the Chinese New Year Festivities. Come and join us as we usher in the Year of the Rabbit 兔gether with Fu-er and Shou-er! 

Be dazzled by the lantern displays, spectacular stage performances, and a host of other festivities at River Hongbao 2023. The event is FREE and no tickets are required for admission.

  1. Chinatown Street Light-Up

CNY celebrations are back with a bang in Chinatown for 2023, and we’re super excited! Check out the fabulous street light up from 3 January – 19 February from 7pm until midnight, which is running along New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street and South Bridge Road. That’s not all, the festive fair and food fair is back every evening from 6-10pm for the whole of January, too – so your CNY snacks and gifts are all sorted! There are also weekly shows taking place at Kreta Ayer Square on the 7, 8, 14, and 15 January between 7–9pm to entertain the fam. It’s fair to say there’s a festive extravaganza in Chinatown this year!
