Gorgeous Grandma Day
What is Gorgeous Grandma Day?
National Gorgeous Grandma Day is a day that’s observed every July 23rd and used to honor those women who are grandmothers but still feel as young and vital as they ever did. Even though this holiday has the term grandma in it, it doesn’t mean that it only applies to women who have grandchildren, but includes women over the age of 50 who are not ready to retire to a quiet life yet.
Gorgeous Grandma Day intends to dispel the old-fashioned, boring mindset against grandmas, and encourage people not to frown upon grandmas, and associate them with being “old and boring”.
Gorgeous Grandma Day can be traced all the way back to the 1980s. The credit for the phrase ‘Gorgeous Grandma’ goes to Alice Solomon. She graduated from Wellesley College at the age of 50-years-old in 1984. The phrase and day were created as a celebration of life for women who have lived half a century and encourage them to continue living their life to the fullest without getting tied down by the age limitations set by others.
How to Celebrate Gorgeous Grandma Day
If you’re a Gorgeous Grandma yourself, it is time to party! With the new restrictions in place due to the pandemic, this party doesn’t (or cannot) have to be a wild one. Invite one of your good pals out, or to your house and enjoy your day doing something fun! It could be dancing, singing or even a hiking session!
If you’re not at the age to be a Gorgeous Grandma, you can celebrate the day with a close Gorgeous Grandma instead! This could be your mom or grandmother, or even a relative or friend! Gorgeous Grandma Day is the perfect day for you to let them know just how special they are.
Some things you can do for them include cooking a lovely meal for them and eating it together, or even watching a movie together.
If you are unable to spend them with them, there is still the option of making them a card or buying them some adorable, fun gifts and sending them over! This will definitely make them happy, knowing that you are thinking about them.
Pssttt: If you read until here, the rainbow charm is a sneak peak of one of our new arrivals coming soon!!
