Cubic Zirconia - The Affordable Alternative

To start off, let us relook at the definition of what is Cubic Zirconia.

Cubic Zirconia is a colourless, synthetic gemstone made of the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide. Cubic Zirconia is made by melting zirconium oxide powder with stabilizers like magnesium and calcium. After being removed from hours of heat, crystals form and stabilize. The crystals are then cut and polished. Different labs may have their own specific methods for making Cubic Zirconia.

Advantages

Affordable

Affordability is definitely the first on this list since it is usually being compared to being the cheaper alternative to diamonds. Cubic Zirconia is a fraction of the price of Diamond, which is one of the greatest reasons why people opt for Cubic Zirconia instead.

Durability

Cubic Zirconia is rated 8.5 out of 10 on the Mohs Scale (The Mohs scale of mineral hardness is a qualitative ordinal scale, from 1 to 10, characterizing scratch resistance of various minerals through the ability of harder material to scratch softer material.) This means that Cubic Zirconia is still relatively hard and durable to be used in jewellery worn frequently.

More Environmentally Friendly

This is comparing Cubic Zirconia with natural diamonds. Cubic zirconia can be said to be better for the environment because it has a smaller carbon footprint as it avoids mining and its consequences.

Looks Good

Cubic Zirconia is considered one of the best alternatives to diamond, and it is not just based on price. Cubic Zirconia is extremely sparkly and is visually similar to diamonds.

Therefore...

Given its advantages and very much lower cost, Cubic Zirconia is an excellent alternative to diamonds, especially for those with budget constraints. Just like diamonds, you can find them in rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, and more.
